Description:

For its 24th edition in 2013, Europalia will present India to Belgians and Europeans. Don't miss the event, in Brussels from the end of 2012 to January 2013

India is next year's choice as the last of the BRIC countries (Russia in 2005, China in 2009 and Brazil in 20011).

In short:

The Republic of India is a country in Southern Asia and extends over most of the Indian sub-continent.

Its name derives from the ancient Persian "Sindhu" the name of the Indian river in Sanskrit.

It is the second most populated country in the world after China. There are 23 official languages, with 2 official languages for administrative bodies: Hindi and English.

And that's not all!

Extra information

The Indian coast measures more than 7000 km!

India is currently the 11th economic power and the third for purchasing power.

But above all, India is the cradle of the oldest civilizations and a historical crossroad of peoples and commerce.

Four major religious beliefs were born here: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jansenism and Sikhism.

This intersection of cultures, history and diverse religions cohabiting together, promises to offer a varied, colourful and surprising festival.
