Description:
This symbolic building was built during the 60s to accommodate the headquarters of the European Commission. The Berlaymont was designed by the architect Lucine de Vestel, based on a plan in the form of a start with unequal sides. It has a surface area of about 240000 m² divided over 16 levels and can accommodate more than 3000 civil servants. This construction has been renovated by the architect Pierre Lallemand, and houses the Commission again since 2004.
