Description:

This magical building, more than 600 years old, is the most remarkable legacy of the city's medieval past.

The last vestige of the second wall of Brussels, the Halle Gate is now home to a wonderful collection of artworks and all sorts of educational media explaining its history and the history of the fortification of Brussels. The neo-Gothic façade and high roof added by architect Henry Beyaert in the 19th century have in no way diminished the splendour of the medieval rooms inside the building.

At the top of the tower, from the crenellated parapet, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Brussels and the surrounding area.

Extra information:

Closed on Mondays and the following public holidays: 01/01, 01/05 (open from 1pm to 5pm on Heritage Day), 01/11, 11/11 and 25/12.
Ticket office closes at 4pm.
On 24 and 31 December (except if it is a Monday), the museum closes at 4pm (ticket office at 3pm).

Getting there: Train: Brussels-Midi Station - Metro: Line 2 (Porte de Hal stop) - Bus: 27, 48, 134, 136, 137, 365, W (Porte de Hal stop) - Tram: 4, 23, 55 (Porte de Hal stop) - Car: (not free) car park near the Halle Gate.

Admission free for children under 12 years (with guidance of family).

  • Tuesday-Friday : 09:30-17:00
  • Saturday-Sunday : 10:00-17:00
